I talk GAS, hobbies and try to make a career out of it.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00732912206547624060noreply@blogger.comBlogger230125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8728714294207563538.post-46897796925883230832018-08-07T23:21:00.001-07:002018-08-07T23:21:37.400-07:00I TAKE IT BACK! Canon G7X II is a decent performer!After bashing the Canon G7Xii on my previous post, i wanna make it clear that, that was my first impression coming from a full frame Sony A7S. Yes, its my fault, i'm to blame but its not like Canon is losing money because of that post.<br />
<br />
My eyes are so used to looking at the Sony A7S files, when i looked at the Canon files, my eyes were expecting the same result? which is ridiculous because its comparing oranges and apples, 2 different cameras, 2 different sensors, but for what it is, the Canon is surprisingly good.<br />
<br />
I had to take out my old hard drive just to check out my old Sony Rx100iii pics, my brain was telling me that the Sony RX100 took better pictures than the Canon G7Xii in the ONE INCH sensor department...and too my surprised, the image quality was actually quite similar....<br />
<br />
So my eyes were wrong, to be fair, its been a while since i last pixel peep a ONE inch sensor JPGs quality.<br />
<br />
I had a tendency to pixel peep... it just amuses me.<br />
<br />
So for a 1 inch sensor camera, the Canon is just as good as the Sony and also cheaper. if you dont need 4k and need longer reach 100mm at the long end compare to Sony's 70mm, i'd say get the Canon.<br />
<br />
But why did i say it's a decent performer?<br />
<br />
Its a good camera but the output i'd get is inconsistent. Sometimes its sharp, sometimes the JPEG rendering is mushy. I guess it's the JPEG rendering. The lens is sharp but Sony is sharper. The AF is fast in good light and as usual its slows down a bit in low light. Sometimes the AF is not accurate or should i say the face detection isnt accurate, i lost a few photos just because the faces were blur. The lens is also noisy when its tracking focus....dut dut dut dut dut....i noticed this when i tracked AF using touch.<br />
<br />
I havent fully explored this camera i only had it for a week. But after getting used to how a ONE INCH sensor files supposed to looked like, i'm actually quite happy with this Canon. I'm still getting used to the AF accuracy. I'm just not confident of it yet, since i lost lots of pics due to AF inaccuracy. You can say its user error but i try using it as a point n shoot which by right should give me good results just by pressing the shutter button.<br />
<br />
Its just the way the camera works kinda baffled me, when i half pressed the shutter, the focus looks like kinda blur on the LCD screen but after i took my shot, the LCD will show me that its sharp, its hard to explain it but yea, just have to get used to it.<br />
<br />
You can get decent out of focus background with the ONE INCH sensor.<br />
<br />
What i dont like about this fast lens and sensor, Sony included, is when you take a selfie with a bunch of people, and you're not lined up, the aperture just stays wide open which makes my face in focus or not in focus....by right they should set the aperture at least f4 i guess or 5.6 so that all the subject are in focus....the camera should be intelligent enough since it detects all the faces in the frame, it should calculate distance and give the appropriate aperture value so that everyone is in focus.<br />
<br />
There's not much photos to show yet, i'm just nowadays not keen to post pictures of my kids.... i'll bring it to my Bangkok trip which is next month!<br />
<br />
But So far So Good Canon.....Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00732912206547624060noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8728714294207563538.post-3496376189764802992018-08-02T18:37:00.003-07:002018-08-02T18:37:46.091-07:00My Rebound Camera.... The Canon G7X Mark eye eye (II)<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg42_m_6rW4aDf8TE_ZvGHNZ2zIpgV4npXBJt7cmd5nO_CPqbaIk5zKM8Mmonyls3axQOTBgK_dBP0_W6zltdElrAQD9_Rcgg12OueRQmtBtFxhXDPyo3zKlBsg57WiXb-yVgMWZrCcfP8/s1600/File_000.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg42_m_6rW4aDf8TE_ZvGHNZ2zIpgV4npXBJt7cmd5nO_CPqbaIk5zKM8Mmonyls3axQOTBgK_dBP0_W6zltdElrAQD9_Rcgg12OueRQmtBtFxhXDPyo3zKlBsg57WiXb-yVgMWZrCcfP8/s640/File_000.jpeg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>Rebound camera?</i></div>
<br />
YES!<br />
After losing out on a great offer on a Sony RX1, I was dumbfounded. Frustrated to say the least.<br />
A few days later, after reading numerous rave and positive reviews on the net, i took the plunge and bought myself a Canon G7X Mark ii, also on a great deal. Bought it on a whim!<br />
<br />
Rebound Camera.... This is not gonna end well!<br />
<br />
This camera is pre-owned but almost practically new, there's almost no sign of use on the body, of course there are smudges on the LCD screen but it was in good clean condition, it was at a great price too! Its about USD$365.<br />
<br />
To be honest, i dont need a Sony RX1, but i wanted it due to my nature of GASing every camera in the world. I'm looking for a pocketable camera, ones that can fit in my back pocket jeans. So, the 1inch series cameras fit the profile. The RX100 series are too damn pricey and the Canon was at half price, so i bought the Canon.<br />
<br />
After the emergence of Fujifilm, Sony and Olympus in the mirrorless market, i never liked the Canons and the Nikons, to be honest i'm quite despised with them failing to compete the Sonys, the Fujis..... like Nikon for example, they announced the DL series, a 1inch sensor camera to compete with Sony, after few months of no news, they scraped the whole project, wat dafuq are you on about Nikon??<br />
<br />
Years after years, Sony and Fuji coming out with brave new technology and the Canons just keep on updating their enthusiast n mid range DSLR...yawn.... After using Fujis, Olympus and Sonys, i never liked Canons JPEG rendering, its worst at best., best at its worst, i dunno if thats the right phrase but yeah...i mean BAD.<br />
<br />
But like i said, after reading great reviews, getting a great deal, and also being a rebound, i made the leap!<br />
<br />
Most bloggers reviewed it on a positive note, raving to be exact, saw Chris Nichols from The Camera Store youtube video and he gave it a positive experience as well. So must be good right?<br />
<br />
After looking at the files in my Lightroom, i'm disappointed. It wasn't what my eyes are expecting, its not sharp, it smearing much, the JPEG rendering is mush. Colors a little on the red side. Just way too mushy, smeared, aggresive noise reduction. But this is JPEGs, RAW could be better. But if i want RAW i might just shoot with my Full Frame Sony A7S which is awesome but could not fit my back pocket, unless im a Giant wearing a loose jeans.<br />
<br />
Its funny how people rave so much about it, the lens is crazy soft on the wide edges, almost toy like quality, but somehow it looks like part of the bokeh?? If there is a bokeh.<br />
Sure this camera can do bokeh, but that JPEG rendering is killing me. Its just my eyes is not used to seeing this inferiority.<br />
<br />
But Maybe i'm expecting too much out of a 1inch sensor.<br />
<br />
Or my eyes are too fixed on Sony's Full Frame Image Quality or what my Olympus Micro Four Thirds can output.<br />
<br />
I'm sure my Sony RX100 Mark III took better pictures.<br />
<br />
So i took out my hard drive and looked for my RX100 images and blew it up in Lightroom.... To my surprised they were similar!! The Sony JPEG rendering is much better though or maybe i liked the Sony colors better but the JPEG rendering and the smearing and the Noise reduction, the softness are similar... <i>Just a note, with these type of cameras i'd prefer to shoot just JPGs,</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
Well i guess my eyes are expecting a full frame quality or at least a Micro Four Thirds IQ.<br />
<br />
Guess my acceptable smallest sensor shud be a Micro Four Third then. I just cant look into the 1 inch sensor IQ no more!<br />
<br />
Right now i'm looking at the Lumix GM1. π ππ<br />
<br />
As always, another day another camera...... <i><strike>(to lust for)</strike></i><br />
<br />
But i'm gonna give my Canon another chance to shine...<br />
<br />Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00732912206547624060noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8728714294207563538.post-32786996005156394702018-07-27T00:34:00.001-07:002018-07-27T00:34:38.556-07:00GAS-ing for a new camera!Wow, its almost one year after my last post.<br />
As usual i get GAS every now and then, lusting for a new camera.... ive never GAS for a new lens...its always a new camera, doesnt matter if its a 10 year old camera as long as i have never owned it.... problem with my country we dont have camera rentals....if we do, it will save me a lot of money....<br />
<br />
So which camera u asked?<br />
I dunno the list goes on but i have so little money....but huge LUST...not need Just WANT..... sigh....its a problem i have, <strike>if only im Effing richhh </strike><br />
<strike><br /></strike>
<strike>Im l</strike>ooking for a small compact camera suitable for travel, in the lines of Ricoh GR, Fujifilm X70 or the newer XF10 but also got a great offer on a USED SONY RX1 which i have been lusting all these years but havent pulled the trigger.... but the RX1 is not pocketable like the Ricoh or Fuji, but they're are not quite pocketable (GR and X70) at least they're slimmer. But what about my Sony A7S plus 35mm 2.8 combo?? its similar in size to the RX1.... its good enough but like i said, i WANT something new!!<br />
If i wanted to save money, i'll just stick with my A7S + 35mm, i brought that combo to New York and no complaints! Of course trying to take a picture of the Liberty from the pier is SAD AS FUCK. Need ZOOM. but for what it is, street photography and travel, the 35mm is great!<br />
I'm also looking at the Sony 28mm f2, because i love bokeh so much...albeit the size will become bigger....<br />
<br />
Why do i want a small camera you say? is because i want it for my Travels...i have Japan trip coming up so i need a camera i can bring everywhere...i want it compact as fuck because im sure i'll be the one handling all the luggages and the baby stroller, i only have two hands, so bringing a bigger camera usually ends up in the bag, too hassle to take it out....i also need to be aware of my kid who likes to run once his feet hits the ground!<br />
<br />
So yeah, problem im having,<br />
Ricoh isnt easily available<br />
Fujifilm X70 is probably still available but with its price i can buy the Sony RX1<br />
Sony Rx1 is waiting for me<br />
Sony 28mm f2 is also waiting for me...<br />
<br />
So which one should i spent my money on???<br />
<br />
I want to love the Ricoh but the dust problems ive been hearing and reading is putting me off.<br />
I would want the Fuji X70 but since i can buy the RX1 for the price, its giving me headache.<br />
The RX1 can produce great IQ but im hearing AF issues and low light performance not quite great.<br />
If i want to invest i should get the 28mm lens because i know my A7S has great IQ and i can shoot wide open for bokeh which i really fond of....<br />
<br />
But .... i want a brand new camera!<br />
<br />
ciaoAnonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00732912206547624060noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8728714294207563538.post-5640508728106872302017-10-15T23:12:00.000-07:002017-10-16T00:13:25.390-07:00So i got myself an Olympus PEN F Yeaahh....So i won the bid and then i realised that the Global Shipping Program is charging me for import charges which i found out is quite pricey. I thought at first that was just an estimation should it arrived here but then i was charged during payment checkout....i'm like WTF.... should i retract my bid or just go on with it close one eye? As you probably know i carry on and paid the thing. It actually became much expensive than the winning bid was....in fact i should have bought new rather than buying this pre-owned item. Well, i guess lesson learnt.<br />
<br />
So after 2 weeks of waiting, it finally came via DHL Express.<br />
There's no original box, so its just DHL packaging.. and again i told myself i should have bought new.<br />
Upon unboxing the package, i picked up the camera and suddenly the battery pops out of the camera...well nothing fishy about it, not until i want to put the battery back in i realised there's a dent at the bottom corner of the camera near the battery door.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKBUMbGFdFL39rP20IM4BfzvGjdXBObyaAevI96ezDQuM3aLThne7F-m-YAkuqYE9H84wFSankDoMedMM-BT9V0hRqBQELQ3lcCHDbwFaXQ5YdedIbbDbYpFZLrDqWdjkPZ7h2Nvxqfdc/s1600/File_000+%25282%2529.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKBUMbGFdFL39rP20IM4BfzvGjdXBObyaAevI96ezDQuM3aLThne7F-m-YAkuqYE9H84wFSankDoMedMM-BT9V0hRqBQELQ3lcCHDbwFaXQ5YdedIbbDbYpFZLrDqWdjkPZ7h2Nvxqfdc/s640/File_000+%25282%2529.jpeg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
its kinda hard to see but you can see the dent.</div>
<br />
I gasps! Was it due to shipping? Or was it dropped? It was fucked. The dent was so strong., the battery door could not be close properly. Fuck this seller selling me a dropped camera without mentioning it in the description. Well i was raised to be a nice guy, i didnt really make a fuss of it. Also i dont want to return it because i will lose money due to shipping charges. I lived on the other side of the world from USA, so yeah...shipping charges will be shitting me. Anyway I was too excited to play with the camera too. Its just a ding. just a dent. fuck it. Lets just force jam this battery door and closed it. Let me tell you, its a lot of effort to close the battery door. i slide the door pin and it closes but there was a gap. Its not pretty. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWsD_05zsorV4YLi6WflC1Tze3aJnr6ytYi76XOiLuDnG3vFqWNXGeAsnS9FJ88_5jhyDuPywfl3tQfzZ2251uUzlyUce0fESEgSs0qLtFJlrHCln5VU33nkpPj806a42_7wFEN-9wGhE/s1600/File_000+%25283%2529.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWsD_05zsorV4YLi6WflC1Tze3aJnr6ytYi76XOiLuDnG3vFqWNXGeAsnS9FJ88_5jhyDuPywfl3tQfzZ2251uUzlyUce0fESEgSs0qLtFJlrHCln5VU33nkpPj806a42_7wFEN-9wGhE/s640/File_000+%25283%2529.jpeg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I'm telling myself it's just a gap. No big deal.......NOT.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I quickly checked the sensor, see if there's any visible crack or hairline crack, so far so good. Took a few pictures and the picture looks ok. nothing weird there. But i must confess, the focusing speed using with my 20mm 1.7 Panny lens is a lot slower than my Pen E-PL7. I mean what gives? I was expecting a faster performance but it was the other way round. it was noticeable. Maybe i was focusing in a dim room but still...i can feel the sluggishness. Just like how i am when i woke up. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
The feel of the camera is very good. the knobs, the handling. The front dial isnt actually in the way as some reviewers said. i love the front dial. that MONO 2 people been talking about. its so good. it made me want to shoot in black and white all the time and the best thing about Olympus is their flexibility. I can shoot in black and white and also saves it with the color profile 2 or your own custom color profile, just by using the bracket mode. This only works with JPGs. Well you can save RAW+Jpegs as well. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
All Black and White pictures are Monochrome Mode 2 with the grain effect at LOW. The colour shots are a custom color profile that i found on the internet, simulating Fuji's <a href="https://www.mu-43.com/threads/pen-f-classic-chrome.92362/" target="_blank">classic chrome</a> or <a href="https://www.mu-43.com/threads/my-kodachrome-classic-chrome-pen-f-settings-update.92950/#post-1044455" target="_blank">kodachrome</a>. Now i dont have to edit much in lightroom. Everything OOC!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I also love the feeling of the shutter. Its so quiet and spongy. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I also like that the LCD screen can be flip backwards so that it doesnt show the screen. Its like a wannabe film camera! And i just realised that i chimped a lot!! it felt weird when not chimping. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
But i do prefer the E-PL7 tilt screen style. Just tilts up and down, i find it unnatural using this vari-angle flip screen. its just so weird for me. Its like i have to look a bit to the left while the camera pointing straight, if you get what i mean. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
It is a fun camera, i almost dont mind the battery door issues any more until.....</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<b>The camera decides to randomly shuts down while taking photos.</b></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
At first, i thought its because i was using a slow speed SD card. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
So i swapped cards and shit still happen.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Read in a forum it could be battery.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
But its not.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Because after a lot of research, i found out that this could be a shutter mechanism faulty. its hardware. its not something that i can fix. There was a <a href="https://photo.stackexchange.com/questions/79180/om-d-e-m5-takes-one-photo-struggles-shuts-off" target="_blank">remedy</a> but it did not work for me.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
The symptom was, its so random sometime after 30 photos, sometime after 5 shots, it turns to black screen and shuts down. It did not record your last picture taking. Turning On and Off brings it back to life. The remedy was to shoot in high/low sequential mode. At first it will shuts down but after a few shots you will be able to take high speed burst. Return to normal shoot mode and there will be no more problems afterwards. thats the remedy i got from the forums. But it doesnt work on my camera.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I tried it, and i never got to shoot in high sequential mode. Based on forum, this is a shutter mechanism problem. My guess is the drop fucks the shutter.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
After toying around with the camera, i realised that the normal shooting mode, did not work. it will shut down.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
All these times i was using a 0 sec anti shock mode. This works ok but randomly it will shut down.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Low sequential mode with anti shock works too.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Since this is a shutter mechanism my guess the electronic shutter will work just fine.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
And then the deal breaker was all those Live Bulb, Live Time and Live Composites did not work. it will shut down after shutter is pressed. Thats so fucked up. Im not sure who to blame, whether Olympus for making such a pussy camera or the seller but i guess the seller got lied too when they got the camera. Why? Because this seller i deal with seems like a pawn shop. they are just the middle man i guess but still...they did not mentioned the drop in the description so they kinda lie too. motherfuckers. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I got a crippled Olympus PEN F.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Return in progress.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

That was really unexpected.<br />
Unexpected the expected.<br />
And here i am expecting a Retro-ish Digital Camera that can rival the Fujis, Sonys and Olympuses.<br />
My wishlist was, a full frame 35mm f2, retro Yashica body, with EVF....well Full Frame was wishful thinking but at least big sensor like APSC or M43.<br />
But instead we get a toy.....sort of....<br />
Yashica called it DigiFilm....<br />
it's a pretend film that you load inside the camera. and theres also a winder! sort of "film advance" or shutter cock<br />
The digifilm is like your Instagram filter but physical. Thus digifilm. different digifilm just gives different effect to each shots taken.<br />
This does appeal to those Lomo/Diana camera fans...and of course hipsters....<br />
I actually think its a clever idea....genius...if only it has a big sensor....but what we got here is what most smartphone camera sensor has.<br />
1/3.2 inch CMOS sensor.<br />
And then there's a confusion whether it was 1.4Mp or 14Mp....there was a possibility of a typo... 1.4Mp in 2017??? Cmon....<br />
<i>I've just checked the updated kickstarter page...it says 14Mp</i>.... well thats reasonable... but still a small sensor??!<br />
1 inch would be great!! but full frame is better!<br />
Definitely a different, possible fun experience.<br />
No LCD to chimp on.<br />
Not sure whether you will get the right exposure.<br />
Just like those film days...without the hassle to develop prints.<br />
To be honest, now that it sinks in, it kinda grows on me. i actually want one. But still a disappointment.<br />
Here i am wishing a rival to X100's or Sony Rx1 or Pen F.<br />
The sample pictures does look a lot like film which is intriguing.<br />
But all these (no LCD chimping, selected ISO, right exposure) can also be done with my PEN F. Just slap back the LCD and dont chimp. and bigger sensor than the Yashica.<br />
Oh...didnt i tell you? I just bought a PEN F!<br />
But still i want the Yashica.<br />
<br />

<br />
This kickstarter project has reached its target<br />
But still....<br />
Backed this <a href="https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1940283777/expect-the-unexpected-digifilmtm-camera-by-yashica/pledge/new?clicked_reward=false" target="_blank">project</a>!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00732912206547624060noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8728714294207563538.post-81585718742736682772017-09-28T00:33:00.001-07:002017-09-28T00:33:38.364-07:00My supposedly-announced-NEW-PEN-from-previous-blogpost... Its the Olympus PEN E-PL7<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Yea,</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I was supposed to announced my newly acquired PEN as i have said in my previous blogpost, that was weeks ago, but life happen so i got busy and did not update this blog as much as i could have... but nobody cares or read anyway...except for one guy π</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So yea, i got meself a new PEN, the Olympus PEN E-PL7!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSj1DRaIWHRR17sInk-Q2dYJ4LZZ-UudSc40QlTVrCKmR7WVVpkVZBwyo2qDcp2BxDOShYrb3LfXLjRF-X8KZSv1pEZTFpBNP75jF2NhQHSsnpf__Bnxblm5lPNEKgOL8SAjo8icW1y5o/s1600/P8272521.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="683" data-original-width="1024" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSj1DRaIWHRR17sInk-Q2dYJ4LZZ-UudSc40QlTVrCKmR7WVVpkVZBwyo2qDcp2BxDOShYrb3LfXLjRF-X8KZSv1pEZTFpBNP75jF2NhQHSsnpf__Bnxblm5lPNEKgOL8SAjo8icW1y5o/s1600/P8272521.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
I got it when i was in Bangkok....<br />
And it was quite an adventure you see...<br />
<br />
While i was in Bangkok, i looked for a used olympus buy and sell group page on Facebook, of course ones located in Thailand, and most of the stuffs they sell is quite cheap compare to ebay.... so while im there, why not buy used?! I just got an E-P2 but it wasnt as expected...i am never satisfied with that camera, the IQ is good but the low resolution of the LCD screen is a deal breaker for me...and combine with the slow lumix 20mm 1.7 lens, the performance is left to be desired... so i look for a new used PEN!<br />
<br />
At first i was looking at E-PL5, i want a small camera, so i was looking at the lite and the mini series, in the end i found E-PL7s sells for cheap... of course everything is in squiggly thai fonts...i have to rely on google translate for most of the description....and i thought everyone in Thailand can read or speak english...i was such a fool.... i was txting them in english and boy do i got a reply? nobody answered me....even a direct message to the seller left me hanging..... fucked! But I must get one of the deals here, its a good bargain!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEju_FQEhQxuTGsZPjWg-1M9iHAvWZoN8sa2TLg-UyC8UL0XDg8J3clt0GdKfVlqhqtopRa3LiJb8rFceElTHzXbjqTmE-p4-VnGCho2Bb8Sy3dGjdaXNCqo0u0qUkbAiw4nrZ6PKvIjEpY/s1600/File_000%25281%2529.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1195" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEju_FQEhQxuTGsZPjWg-1M9iHAvWZoN8sa2TLg-UyC8UL0XDg8J3clt0GdKfVlqhqtopRa3LiJb8rFceElTHzXbjqTmE-p4-VnGCho2Bb8Sy3dGjdaXNCqo0u0qUkbAiw4nrZ6PKvIjEpY/s640/File_000%25281%2529.png" width="476" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is just one of the seller's post and i had to endure with google translation.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I dunno...this PEN E-PL7 comes with prostitute??</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
lets make an appointment with the wind???...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
and then you CONTACT THE BANANA???</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
She never replied my text though...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is what i had to endure for every post...but thanks for trying google..</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
So i scroll again looking for sellers who sells the EPL7 for cheap and i found one seller who happens to have a shop at Bangkapi Mall or so i thought......<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhv2qdtL-FyV5fj5rN9zStSfzfs45Pn1ZgyCpM6kVIzmigKfzv3ijbqk-lWhXmYGLsIqCA2_OjP5g2pZnLCJSQHRDoXUpvxOvlWgRR_esCn1yP1FtCbOOwX9dWCex0LCH2hLIkON8bDwHg/s1600/File_000%25281%2529.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1520" data-original-width="929" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhv2qdtL-FyV5fj5rN9zStSfzfs45Pn1ZgyCpM6kVIzmigKfzv3ijbqk-lWhXmYGLsIqCA2_OjP5g2pZnLCJSQHRDoXUpvxOvlWgRR_esCn1yP1FtCbOOwX9dWCex0LCH2hLIkON8bDwHg/s640/File_000%25281%2529.png" width="390" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Oh they got a shop at Mall Bangkapi...thats pretty easy right?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Just go there and look for the shop and just buy....</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The Mall is actually pretty far but i believe it will be worth it...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhH8iLd71pOMTKoZ6lc_bM4-EmebuoJBt8NfqECYkvArWB2GN6XA1wltU2MC9Vyl_wlSRvrSjqUoEfbPIJ5gGomw04W6TTWHfoDMraDiLBwmdfcGSJ28c2WxwPfpuyKGOPnZzHZOgnlv_4/s1600/Screen+Shot+2017-09-28+at+2.26.15+PM.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="581" data-original-width="1000" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhH8iLd71pOMTKoZ6lc_bM4-EmebuoJBt8NfqECYkvArWB2GN6XA1wltU2MC9Vyl_wlSRvrSjqUoEfbPIJ5gGomw04W6TTWHfoDMraDiLBwmdfcGSJ28c2WxwPfpuyKGOPnZzHZOgnlv_4/s1600/Screen+Shot+2017-09-28+at+2.26.15+PM.png" /></a></div>
I'm around MBK center, and its around 40-50mins plus traffic to reach Mall BAngkapi....all this for the PEN E-PL7.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMCraxFmILpOb-GHmDPsqnkpzP4P4TGb5cd4pV4hLp2mo0eQEWpMipzMrSdY-pNJeKSIjhH57P3URpJ-Ce6rB2bKgypeLOEJfn3KfvENK9mraWrdTG9L0Zbl1PXKQkyVFS5ErU6MNk6BQ/s1600/File_000.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="900" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiMCraxFmILpOb-GHmDPsqnkpzP4P4TGb5cd4pV4hLp2mo0eQEWpMipzMrSdY-pNJeKSIjhH57P3URpJ-Ce6rB2bKgypeLOEJfn3KfvENK9mraWrdTG9L0Zbl1PXKQkyVFS5ErU6MNk6BQ/s640/File_000.png" width="360" /></a></div>
And when i reached the Mall Bangkapi, i somehow got a feeling that the shop is not in the mall...so i asked the concierge she also said its not in the mall, its somewhere the street outside.... so i check their FB page and THANKS TO YOU FACEBOOK DIRECTION it leads me to Soi Lat Phrao 146 as shown above.... hmm ok... it probably only 10mins walk, so i walk from Mall Bangkapi and went to Soi Lat Phrao, hoping to find the camera shop there, so i walked through the alley, theres some guy at the entrance, he kinda blocked the entrance, speaking in thai, just broadcasting to everyone passing by but i just enter follow the girl infront of me, and just walk in, looking for the shop,.... theres some kind of funeral going on, and all these thai ppl speak loudly, i dunno if there are arguing or just having a good story, its actually a good photo opportunity but i didnt have the balls to take it because it look kinda private and i might get in trouble.... This Bangkapi area is different from the city center, theres no tourist here, nobody speaks english here, lucky i look like thai myself, they probably dont give a fuck, i m probably in trouble if im a farang..... i even enter a supposedly locked gate, it was wide open, i enter n then all these thais kids and some older thais as well give me a look, i realised im not suppose to enter there and its some kind of a restricted area, so i turn back and make my way out of the alley, it was kinda nerve wrecking, i dont speak thai, no one speak english here, no tourist.... and no camera shop to be seen.....might get in trouble....but luckily nothing happen.....and all these for Olympus PEN E-PL7.... so FACEBOOK just gave me BAD direction as Jackie Chan said, NO, they gave me WRONG Direction.... in the expense of my life ....<br />
<br />
So i checked the facebook page again, depending everything on Google translate, it still gives me the same direction as before....i kept walking forward just in case the shop is nearby but none....... after much looking and searching in FB, i found some kind of address, 624 Condolette Lad Phrao, i googled it, its not even a shop its only some sort of CONDO.... Oh man, i guess im lost, i couldnt find the shop....FB/Google probably gave me wrong information here..... but since im here might as well check out the CONDO for the last time before i raise the white flag of surrender.....<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiySdMau4d_qAphyMBfyBcSQn7SsiBlxlCuHrfAQMg6_Mh98QbUFG2LiI_zkfX5UEpyy_yaHTfR4EbI06MHNH2sBdxry3r44_8LS8UiVPhwUrwtqbZSXa56tBacigVxFAsUSMyXQVqPLaw/s1600/File_000%25282%2529.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="900" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiySdMau4d_qAphyMBfyBcSQn7SsiBlxlCuHrfAQMg6_Mh98QbUFG2LiI_zkfX5UEpyy_yaHTfR4EbI06MHNH2sBdxry3r44_8LS8UiVPhwUrwtqbZSXa56tBacigVxFAsUSMyXQVqPLaw/s640/File_000%25282%2529.png" width="360" /></a></div>
its another 5 -8 mins walk since im already halfway, so i make my way to the condo....<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglQrFmoAfon0YxPRAG53_TZL-CjMxeIDIGBktemo2TQHrk050y75DMHyHXd3ix_WpnF4cxX_xCSHT7oP1-BLpAV_kKQWtERHKiiUd0TgIDOI6TX9JHbQM3veasLBWkIOvJC_9I0_hOt9g/s1600/File_002.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglQrFmoAfon0YxPRAG53_TZL-CjMxeIDIGBktemo2TQHrk050y75DMHyHXd3ix_WpnF4cxX_xCSHT7oP1-BLpAV_kKQWtERHKiiUd0TgIDOI6TX9JHbQM3veasLBWkIOvJC_9I0_hOt9g/s640/File_002.jpeg" width="640" /></a></div>
These area is pretty quiet for Bangkok, check that out, less cars!! OMG...even more nerve wrecking....<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgx7A6dq6eCZE6i9e_1EKWePIgbKEXlRTG-Fv6HKf3sVTFPcVo8cEx9B2JkSRG9tizPi8Jyd2ejnuSB2N51BdHdIxZOtZMQoPs3Ba5ZsR0Y_uXWblJWNpClBkSWf4KC4ZEL4-IYU8jLbjM/s1600/P8272509.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="768" data-original-width="1024" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgx7A6dq6eCZE6i9e_1EKWePIgbKEXlRTG-Fv6HKf3sVTFPcVo8cEx9B2JkSRG9tizPi8Jyd2ejnuSB2N51BdHdIxZOtZMQoPs3Ba5ZsR0Y_uXWblJWNpClBkSWf4KC4ZEL4-IYU8jLbjM/s1600/P8272509.jpg" /></a></div>
Finally here, when i saw it, there's only some kind of Sushi shop at the ground floor, theres a security guard at the entrance, just walk pass them, and no one stop me or anything...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-x_9y5ThoWkJgpqlbm2AQ1YhLX39lV0z2nx-Cnrvgu_-8eCe7l6QcMlDr17eYMgiNb2KLQ7zaDYQB_domij_wY3jxap_7i_QanMSusY_xoLTCvx8ctX7tz4gcZ7FM5rEhDTIuU2PX_SA/s1600/P8272511.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="768" data-original-width="1024" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-x_9y5ThoWkJgpqlbm2AQ1YhLX39lV0z2nx-Cnrvgu_-8eCe7l6QcMlDr17eYMgiNb2KLQ7zaDYQB_domij_wY3jxap_7i_QanMSusY_xoLTCvx8ctX7tz4gcZ7FM5rEhDTIuU2PX_SA/s1600/P8272511.jpg" /></a></div>
The only obvious shop is the Sushi shop, i didnt even see the camera shop next to it!! I FINALLY FOUND THE SHOP!!!!!!!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Maybe i'm just having GAS.<br />
But its so damn ugly...<br />

I never liked the X-E series.<br />
But i liked the rangefinder style and was hoping the X-E3 would change my mind.<br />
But it still is damn ugly....<br />
Silver or Black... still urrgghhh...<br />
But I like it how they make it smaller.<br />
I'm looking for a Fuji rangefinder style with EVF + Interchangeable lens.<br />
that only leaves me with the X-E series.<br />
Why Fuji u say? Well i always liked their IQ.<br />
But if i wanted a Fuji i probably go with the X-T20.<br />
Maybe because i liked the Tilt Screen so much.<br />
I dunno why a camera with Tilt Screen is consider as a non pro camera.<br />
Fuck you pros!<br />
It is just damn handy.<br />
I always love the X100 series<br />
But its time to get the interchangeable lens camera.<br />
I love the X-Pro2. BUT its just too big.<br />
And then came along the X-E3...<br />
Small...probably better....<br />
But OMG its ugly...<br />
I guess i'm sticking with Olympus for now.<br />
And fanboys......stay away!<br />
<br />
<br />Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00732912206547624060noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8728714294207563538.post-17676160879175121382017-09-06T19:52:00.001-07:002017-09-06T19:55:02.922-07:00Fuji this, Fuji That....blerrgghhh!I love Fuji as a brand and the cameras they are making and selling, but there's one thing that really annoys me about Fuji, it really gets on my nerves... its their FANBOYS!!!!<br />
<br />
It started a little something like this,<br />
"Why i shoot with Fuji....."<br />
"Why i Switch from BRAND to Fuji.."<br />
"The X-T2 shoots wedding"<br />
"The X-Pro2 at the racing car"<br />
"Fuji the Leica killer"<br />
"Why Fuji is the best bla blabla"<br />
bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla bla..... yeah WHATEVS!!<br />
<br />
It just frikkin annoys me, fucking fanboys!<br />
I love how back then it used to be just....<br />
"Shooting landscapes",<br />
"Weddings by ..... " ,<br />
" Sunset in Greece or something"<br />
<br />
Back then it was all about the photography first, nowadays, its camera/gear first and then photography second.... and sometimes its shit photography but i have to admit these fanboys do take great photos.... i just hate it when the gears get worshipped too much....<br />
<br />
I HAVE TO ADMIT THOUGH I PROBABLY DID THE SAME THING!!! Bahahahaha!!! but i think nobody reads my blogs anyway, so i get away with it....just one friend who is my superfan, i meant supporter.... *wink*wink*<br />
<br />
Anyways back to my rant,<br />
Back then they photographers talked more about the photography itself, the technique they used to shoot them photos, and i have to check the notes of the photo to know which camera/gears they used.....<br />
<br />
Nowadays, its gears vs gears....<br />
while it is convenient, i mean it is good to have these comparisons....<br />
I JUST DONT LIKE THE WORSHIPPING PART!<br />
and its worst if you read at forums like DPREVIEW, all the fanboys bashing each other, keyboard warriors, trolls, u name it.... them fuckers!<br />
<i>"OH i can do this with this camera, can you do with yours???"</i><br />
<i>"BLA BLA BLA BLA BLA Fuji, BAL BLA BLA Leica, BLA BLABL A BLA LA SONY"</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
All brands have FANBOYS but the most annoying ones are the FUJI FANBOYS!<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
Traffic at Siam. Shot with PEN E-P2 ISO800 with 20mm 1.7 Lumix lens</div>
<br />
i feel like im lost for words.<br />
But i have to write about my Bangkok trip with the Olympus PEN E-P2.<br />
How was it as a 2017 go everywhere camera?<br />
That is the reason why i bought the E-P2 in the first place.<br />
<i><br /></i>
<i>Since i'm lost for words....</i><br />
<i>*WARNING* PLENTY OF PICS*</i><br />
<br />
Anyway, lets talk about Bangkok!<br />
I'm here for the Foo Fighters concert...<br />
That was one awesome show! Seeing Dave Grohl live, its like a dream comes true....<br />
Not so much sight seeing as i only stayed at one area, namely the Siam area, where the shopping malls are closely located. Pretty easy to reach as i only stayed nearby at my currently favourite hotel IBIS Siam. Its just next to MBK, an oldie but goodie famous shopping mall. All the malls are connected to each other via skywalk (a pedestrian bridge) and the BTS(tubes/mrt/train) is here too!.<br />
This year alone i went to Bangkok 3 times already.... First is for the GnR concert...thats a fun show too! Second is an impromptu visit... And Third is this blog's contents...<br />
First trip i stayed at the Asoke Sukhumvit and Thonglor area....<br />
While its ok there, i prefer staying near MBK now...from now on i'm just gonna stay MBK area.<br />
If you like clubbing n bars, Thonglor is definitely the place to go...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
That's my favourite hotel, ibis hotel. Good for solo and couple travellers. Family? not so much. as the rooms are quite small. But the location is super good, if you want to be close to the malls and BTS.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

The IBIS of the PEN E-P2 is not as effective as the newer models. thats understandable. This is at 1/60 shutter speed..hmmm...i must have been shaking a lot....or i did not stop still... I didn't realise there's a puppy in the middle of the lane. </div>

I'm using the Panasonic 20mm 1.7 lens. It is very famous for being a slow performer. Although at times i think the speed is "liveable". Im not shooting sports anyway. But combine with the old E-P2 the slowness is noticeable.</div>

The dynamic range of the PEN E-P2 is quite OK. You can lift up the shadows but beware of shadow noise though! Highlights are pretty hard, i mean all cameras struggles with burnt highlights, so try not to burn highlights. Not a great example but you can see i can lift up the shadows to expose more of the plants on the left side. I can recover a bit of the highlights. Now you can see cloud structures! I shoot RAW with the E-P2. Base ISO 200 definitely has some noise..</div>

I rarely do any type of sharpening by the way. Almost non existent. </div>

I've met my good buddy who happens to visit Bangkok. He's a photographer as well, so he asked me to join him shooting a model. Why not??! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It was too hot and bright, my E-P2 cant shoot wide open at f1.7, the shutter keeps on blinking, if only there's a ND filter built in. This is at f2.8. I would prefer more bokeh than this. </div>

Here is my friend's Fuji X-Pro2. I love Fuji but compare to my Olympus, it is a tad bigger.... I cant stand long protruding lenses.. But I love Fuji IQ so i have to make some compromises... size vs iq. i choose size. The olympus is small to carry which is a joy. combine with a pancake lens... Its a good bring everywhere camera. The Olympus IQ is good enough for me.</div>

Here's a funny story... we were strolling around at the streets and nowhere to go..it was frikking hot and i want to be in an air-conditioned place... </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So I asked my friend, "<i>Where are we going?</i>"</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
He said <i>"After you!"</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So i was like, <i>"Let's go to the mall, its frikking hot!!"</i></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
But he keep strolling around the streets, didn't enter the mall.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
i mean WTF, Cmon its hot, lets go to the mall</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
he keeps saying after you....</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
in the end we came to this ice cream place, and its called "After You!"!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Anyway this place is packed!! and people are queuing to dine here...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Good business indeed!</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Afterwards we meet up with my friend's friend who likes to model as well... </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
So how does the Olympus PEN E-P2 performs??</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
In good light the IQ is pretty good, a little less sharp than i like...</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
The AF i cannot say much because i only tested it with the famous slow lens the Panny 20mm 1.7.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
But this combination is quite slow for today's standard. But i think it's liveable. As long you're not shooting sports or kids running around. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
As you can see, shooting a fashion model/static object is fine. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
The LCD is a low resolution sometimes, most of the times, its hard to see the IQ/sharpness of the photos you just took. I always wonder how it would look like on my laptop screen. Do i get it sharp? is it blur? Most of the time its fine but you're just not confident enough just by looking at the LCd screen.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
And i will not be confident shooting weddings with this camera. While it can, i'd rather use a better camera.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
While face detection works, sometimes i cant get pin sharp eyes but this may be due to the fact that i shoot the Panny lens wide open at f1.7. The moustache is sharp but not the eyes. u get what i mean? If there's an eye detection it would be better. or i just shoot at f2.8 but that defeats the purpose of a 1.7 lens. Yes yes yes, i like shooting wide open.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Its not an indoor camera. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
If shooting at shutter speeds such as 1/15, 1/20 expect motion blur. The newer Olympus can shoot at that speed pin sharp.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Now i can understand when people say the 16mp sensor is better than the 12mp sensor of the E-P2.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
16mp sensor definitely to go.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
The response and performance of the newer models is just so satisfactory!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
My conclusion for my PEN E-P2 is like Mick Jagger would sing ...</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
"I cant get no satisfaction"</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
While it is a capable travel camera as long as the light is good, but the corner of my heart tells me that im not satisfied. Thats why i bought a new PEN model here in Bangkok!!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Anyway im gonna leave you with a fashion shoot i did using the E-P2 with the 20mm 1.7 Panny.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

Just looking for something to at least take better photos than my iphone7+ can do...but of course everybody knows the iphone is the better camera because its with me everywhere everyday in my pocket. No camera no picture! After that trip to Washington and New York with the A7S, i just find that i dont like bringing the A7S with me all the time because it is kinda bulky, but to be honest it is small compare to DSLRs. im just being a nitpick. and i was also impress looking at how small the olympus lenses were compare to my 24-70 Full Frame Sony lens....urrghh yucK!<br />
<br />
So anyway, i end up with the PEN E-P2 because i got it at a great deal, its about $135USD plus shipping all the way from Japan. And it took about a week to reach my hands!! yum!<br />
<b><br /></b>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgb6WWnhGBAtgfoZ9yswgJj29fFTSlIhUSo1Z9FiEZRWAKDyMpnqhVujfN6FdlU05v48w8mdezRr8-GSjqFG1v9lAKujFDRz5wGGAFO-d6mG-ceksxg8zE2U2sYZPiTqknD3MrulyRu3BQ/s1600/IMG_9119.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgb6WWnhGBAtgfoZ9yswgJj29fFTSlIhUSo1Z9FiEZRWAKDyMpnqhVujfN6FdlU05v48w8mdezRr8-GSjqFG1v9lAKujFDRz5wGGAFO-d6mG-ceksxg8zE2U2sYZPiTqknD3MrulyRu3BQ/s640/IMG_9119.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Check out that sexy beast. Its already been fitted with a black color leather skin which makes it more retro-ish looking. I didn't really like the brown grip but it was alright! </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGMWBUQHa9lJUlj049SD7FAPUA66XITzyZ8vX3472tqVRLM2Zd4sxlTwdGllzOsClXdxveYjb361VMAyB3bGZpFxEraDtij_t7UKQ1MrE3iJN7qJQOQqQ9bWM3Y6jUW2sRpzXvVV09-M4/s1600/IMG_9120.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGMWBUQHa9lJUlj049SD7FAPUA66XITzyZ8vX3472tqVRLM2Zd4sxlTwdGllzOsClXdxveYjb361VMAyB3bGZpFxEraDtij_t7UKQ1MrE3iJN7qJQOQqQ9bWM3Y6jUW2sRpzXvVV09-M4/s640/IMG_9120.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I bought it together with the Panasonic 20mm f1.7 lens which gets rave reviews although i just found out its also the slowest, sluggish AF performance as well. I can live with the AF speed but moving from a newer camera to older camera does make you notice how slow the performance-wise back in those 2010 days.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5JZFiewIFkkTVAz6rwhp3VixYb1GVA9LqgchsRv-R6Wxtiope12VPNh0Pwa1w6pLQpz9Nm-2vSmzRi82JXqLvMLqtU8-s54HMf2ZR2QXmQREim-xUAZIYI_r6CNfpBC9BlDzYoEfBrb0/s1600/IMG_9122.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5JZFiewIFkkTVAz6rwhp3VixYb1GVA9LqgchsRv-R6Wxtiope12VPNh0Pwa1w6pLQpz9Nm-2vSmzRi82JXqLvMLqtU8-s54HMf2ZR2QXmQREim-xUAZIYI_r6CNfpBC9BlDzYoEfBrb0/s640/IMG_9122.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I was actually surprised that the PEN E-P2 looks bigger than the OMD E-M10...not bigger but thicker... but my friend kept saying because of the OMD's black color it makes it look smaller. Probably. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0zzDthbM9MN2gLVdD4cZp5w_pz7-PDOa2ZNES67kKaIS2ApUAXD-2e3iOo2t_jZJa2SFgWP28gcSucjT2zIwDZQoFNXtoSOuojcW7xW6BMNrlbFhWSVnPKujqiZnlPIfNH387qmgWFu4/s1600/IMG_9124.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0zzDthbM9MN2gLVdD4cZp5w_pz7-PDOa2ZNES67kKaIS2ApUAXD-2e3iOo2t_jZJa2SFgWP28gcSucjT2zIwDZQoFNXtoSOuojcW7xW6BMNrlbFhWSVnPKujqiZnlPIfNH387qmgWFu4/s640/IMG_9124.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The PEN E-P2 is definitely thicker from this top view shot.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFeXcPjyofhxWj_8nyVJ_cdCKYXiXvnWr34BYSfqLFk7A-p5GSyDrEi19ZMgBT9vNj28kr-SKcz6I-Ui3NFzgtCKlaN9bZm19dTBBlYR7EKqHThyphenhyphenSKoC6LIu9Y_Vxs00_XmNgMKr_gOnU/s1600/IMG_9126.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFeXcPjyofhxWj_8nyVJ_cdCKYXiXvnWr34BYSfqLFk7A-p5GSyDrEi19ZMgBT9vNj28kr-SKcz6I-Ui3NFzgtCKlaN9bZm19dTBBlYR7EKqHThyphenhyphenSKoC6LIu9Y_Vxs00_XmNgMKr_gOnU/s640/IMG_9126.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The OMD handles much better. Due to the grip design. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-rwvsVLLRmbZVzWB_z5gwxKT-Or1w30vHQSmTbfKyNe6wPjqaRdpDpSok9C1RN1NKuqEZb3f1p7IZXkDBJeVnwlr654bV6zMJEm4XlRlcJr7XuP-JefO7f61ermefeMJ-8A-MdObqz_M/s1600/IMG_9130.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-rwvsVLLRmbZVzWB_z5gwxKT-Or1w30vHQSmTbfKyNe6wPjqaRdpDpSok9C1RN1NKuqEZb3f1p7IZXkDBJeVnwlr654bV6zMJEm4XlRlcJr7XuP-JefO7f61ermefeMJ-8A-MdObqz_M/s640/IMG_9130.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Such a handsome camera. So good looking.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Aesthetically this PEN ticks all the right boxes...</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
So the next important question? How is the image quality??</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
All i can say is the PEN E-P2 takes good photos but not great! Its certainly better than the iphones/androids of the world....</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
When i say great, that means i am comparing it to the newer OMD (to be fair). As being said a lot in the internet, the newer 16mp m43 sensor (omd em1, em10, em5 etc) is better than the old 12mp.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Where it fails, is low light photos, its quality is something left to be desired...same for its AF performance with the 20mm 1.7. Again....Something left to be desired.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
But i knew straight ahead, the world already knows it, this camera is not great at low light but i still think its better than my old Canon rebel 350d. But even at base ISO which is ISO200, there are noise if you pixel peep, zoom in 100%. It baffles me when people say Olympus takes clean images at base ISO. What r they smoking? Their definition of clean maybe differs than mine but i can say there are noise.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmK7ctocDvmpNwPjjrFqL-Dk_pyxzQeqNJi38pvf5Sv34hIAGvXYTaq2RFTK5efReBRs3v393iRdXPMTHVi8vrfrlwTDPPpJ8A1oi4RS2QalQXcRM3BDIMPjq8rta2ZqOrxXa_vG1cSJ0/s1600/Screen+Shot+2017-08-30+at+4.12.37+PM.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="608" data-original-width="759" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmK7ctocDvmpNwPjjrFqL-Dk_pyxzQeqNJi38pvf5Sv34hIAGvXYTaq2RFTK5efReBRs3v393iRdXPMTHVi8vrfrlwTDPPpJ8A1oi4RS2QalQXcRM3BDIMPjq8rta2ZqOrxXa_vG1cSJ0/s1600/Screen+Shot+2017-08-30+at+4.12.37+PM.png" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here is base ISO 200. Definitely there's grain/noise. This is zoom in 100%. Shadow noise definitely visible.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
The image quality reminded me of my Leica M8. But i believe the M8 is better due to sensor size, but for low light they both are pretty much the same. Theres banding in shadow areas, if you push the exposure...limit to ISO1600 for acceptable IQ. ISO3200 is ok for the PEN and if you convert to B&W it should be fine.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
The LCD of the PEN E-P2 also reminded me of my Leica M8/M9. Its very low quality i mean low resolution for 2017 standards. But the problem with the PEN compared to the Leica is you are composing using the LCD, if you are not using the external VF. In bad light the LCD screen will show noise, like snow coming down. The problem with low resolution LCD is you cant really know if you got your focus right. YOu have to zoom in and check. But what i like about the low res LCD is the muted color your picture look like..</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
So due to the resolution of the LCD, i wont be confident shooting this for a paid job especially weddings. Imagine the horror coming back with blur non-focus photos! π±</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Actually i kinda lost for words, i probably save my thoughts for next post...</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Anyway here's a sample photo taken with 20mm 1.7.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtje8FTgcEYQl0P3prqorMa6GSGBGBBRnHdoGQ8fu_1cZRSYGLbJxyeKf_d_Rzq4Cqr8SG0toD_GZM_vRl4ANZAW4ax5B5JBtIZ2ej_PKNLNIFtJTrElWr8tvBwikS22TdzEbPx1K1yHA/s1600/P8212178.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="683" data-original-width="1024" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtje8FTgcEYQl0P3prqorMa6GSGBGBBRnHdoGQ8fu_1cZRSYGLbJxyeKf_d_Rzq4Cqr8SG0toD_GZM_vRl4ANZAW4ax5B5JBtIZ2ej_PKNLNIFtJTrElWr8tvBwikS22TdzEbPx1K1yHA/s1600/P8212178.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The 20mm 1.7 has decent bokeh. i like it. theres a good separation between the subject and the background. This is ISO1000.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
So what better way to test the PEN E-P2? Travel of course!! i have a Bangkok trip coming when i just got the E-P2...definitely the camera to bring along!! Why thats the main purpose of getting the E-P2 of course!!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I think i'll save it for the next post! Stay tune!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

It might sound crazy<br />
But call me maybe...LOL<br />
<br />
Anyway, i have yet to give a review of my new PEN E-P2 but let me tell you a secret, i got another one! Yes, another PEN! Just after 2 weeks of getting the PEN E-P2, i got another one. This is whats wrong with me, i would buy all the lower ends PEN when what i actually really want is the latest and greatest PEN, the PEN F but its just too damn expensive!<br />
<br />
I think i should post step by step, i guess i have to do my review of my E-P2 first!<br />
<br />
Well E-P2 review is next!!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00732912206547624060noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8728714294207563538.post-50727048425400876632017-08-08T00:54:00.003-07:002017-08-08T00:54:57.469-07:00I caught the PEN fever!I have a PEN, i have a fever, i have PEN fever!<br />
I want a PEN, i have a bug, i caught PEN bug!<br />
OK! Enuff!<br />
<br />
PEN i refer here is of course the Olympus PEN series.... which PEN u ask? Well... not the latest and greatest the PEN F, actually i'm in love (or more GAS) with the older PEN E-P2!!<br />
<br />
But why?<br />
<br />
If you have been reading this blog for centuries, you know i like my camera to be retro-ish! Only Fuji and Olympus can give me that retro-ish modern camera...or i can just shoot film but i dont want to! My Sony....hmmm...i love what i get out of it but that camera just lacks soul....i just dont feel like fondling that camera hahaha sounds wrong but you camera nerds know wat i meant....<br />
<br />
After that Washington DC trip, and whining about carrying the Sony A7S, complaining how bulky it was, although it is considered small compared to large ass DSLRs....i decided to get a small-ish, compact, a better IQ than iphone camera, something that i can carry everyday, everywhere, perfect for travel, a camera that can take a beating, or at least a camera where i can put anywhere, not safely tucked in a padded bag, just like i did with my Sony... getting too much pampered.... i want a camera that i can just put somewhere without care...just like my iphone....<br />
<br />
By this time i no longer interested with the Fuji X70, although that is the camera to get...i was scrolling around 43rumors website when i stumbled a retro looking camera, of course the vintage manual lens doesnt help (GAS alert!)....so i search high and low to know which model it was, i know it was the PEN series but i never ever seen it so retro just like the old school film camera....it was the PEN E-P1/E-P2 series! What makes it so retro? the trick was the custom leather skin applied to its body and of course the vintage look lenses...Oh my... i'm in love!!!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTVcZTR51qAOKEQ08veRXKPt576qJLP1PaM74GRXHQ_UQ06f_SLpPtM9IPBUdBZcZDasjxRLJqdcdMds7jludlHICdULwu0R96wQl4iQ7kgphK-FYgOB53b2HuAyx3k5zhvmNAfC-UuFM/s1600/7ArtisansMFT.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="308" data-original-width="700" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTVcZTR51qAOKEQ08veRXKPt576qJLP1PaM74GRXHQ_UQ06f_SLpPtM9IPBUdBZcZDasjxRLJqdcdMds7jludlHICdULwu0R96wQl4iQ7kgphK-FYgOB53b2HuAyx3k5zhvmNAfC-UuFM/s1600/7ArtisansMFT.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Just look at that all black retroish Olympus camera, in all its glory (<i>ignore the ugly fuck lumix</i>)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
taken from 43rumors.com</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
So off to ebay i go and WAT DA EFF, it only cost a hundred-ish bucks! Perfect! So cheap! i never bought a camera this cheap! But instead of the all black i'd go for the silver version so that it looked more retro but somehow i feel a lil bit regret of not buying the black one but i can buy two!! bcos its dirt cheap.... as if i got money to burn! hello credit cards!! VISA must love me!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjq7x48EdotAidiJyOQM3FnMwDQIVWIyUxLsrciur4K0RsWsMa7SAw1lB_nqMTrtDRPKPiJ82pOm4jvcPS6OXLUzLEyXP6-AEGgqAgEG4V1_o0RP41JZcFvrkCyOYZCdFjI-gi8WkUPgpM/s1600/0000000204162_main_ebay.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="461" data-original-width="600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjq7x48EdotAidiJyOQM3FnMwDQIVWIyUxLsrciur4K0RsWsMa7SAw1lB_nqMTrtDRPKPiJ82pOm4jvcPS6OXLUzLEyXP6-AEGgqAgEG4V1_o0RP41JZcFvrkCyOYZCdFjI-gi8WkUPgpM/s1600/0000000204162_main_ebay.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I'd go with this color....and it already has leather skin applied, but i just hate that brown grip..ah well u cant have it all!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Sure there are marks, dings and scratches, which means it can take a beating and i dont have to love this camera.... sure its an old technology but the photo will come out better than that the iphone... from my research the AF is not as fast as newer Olympus but looks fast enough for me...this i gotta test it myself, soon i do a quick review of this little machine....</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
It looked small but its probably bigger than i imagined but yeah whatevs,,,, i m already in love!! </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Anyway, why Olympus you say??</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Yea i admit i do bash Olympus before but at the time i dunno what i want with my photography....after so many years of taking photos, i only printed a few times and i never printed large....mostly everything is for social media or viewing on the phone/web which the Olympus is more than capable of....</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
and i always have a soft spot for Olympus.... the miniature size is compelling! I met a guy once he was selling some of his Olympus gears and when he put all the lens on the desk...my gosh they are so small, compare to my Sony lenses...uurrgghh Sony! its effing large!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
So yeah, my EP2 is on its way from Japan....and i bought a Panny 20mm 1.7 pancake lens.... because i just love bokeh! although i would prefer a 35mm equivalent since my eyes are already used to it, so 40mm i just need to back off a lil bit....</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
So theres 2 pancake lenses from Panasonic that almost covers my fav focal length, theres the 14mm 2.5 and 20mm 1.7... thats 28mm and 40mm respectively....perfect! Next in the wishlist is the 14mm, that would be perfect for travel street photogs.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
But of course as GAS goes, right after i 'click buy' EP2, i also want the EP3 in black version!! OOOhhhh maaamama</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Damn you GAS!!!!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<i>I AM EXCITED!!!!!π± </i></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<i>Cmon EP2 come sooner!!</i></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<i>Here's a RAW sample file i downloaded from web, edit lightly with lightroom and i am happy with it!! </i></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<i><br /></i></div>

There was a used X70 for $500 but in the end since i already brought my Sony, why would i buy the X70.... So i just stop whining and brought my A7S. My argument was hand carrying my Sony A7S for these 2+8+14 hours of flying not including layover. My lowepro fastpack seems to be a great travelling backpack although i hate using backpacks since it would sweat my back more. Overview of the trip was i didnt get to shoot the milkyway (the original plan) because of lack of tripod and the distance of my hotel from the Washington DC Mall is quite far.<br />
<br />
P/S Shopping and taking photographs for me cannot coexist lol. So in the end i think the best camera is still my iphone because its either you got your picture or you dont.<br />
<br />
But here are some shots from my A7S....<br />

Although its a bitch to carry this Sony A7S but i love the output id get out of it...</div>
Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00732912206547624060noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8728714294207563538.post-12663363412769436862017-07-19T23:33:00.001-07:002017-07-19T23:33:15.456-07:00Another day another GAS!This time its the Fuji X70!...<br />
I used to have GAS for the X70 before but i never pulled the trigger..<br />
But now the GAS is back...<br />
I love my Sony A7S and the output i will get..<br />
but somehow that camera just lacks the soul...<br />
It didnt make me want to take a picture...<br />
unless im shooting the night sky and maybe going for that crazy bokeh look..<br />
<br />
The reason im GASing for the X70 is the size....<br />
Because i have a trip to DC coming up...<br />
so a smaller camera would come handy...<br />
my iphone is small but id like the best IQ possible...<br />
I would love to bring my Sony A7S but somehow thinking of bringing it already felt unliberating..<br />
unliberating = not free = no freedom<br />
Its kind of bulky although it is small, blame it on the protruding lens..<br />
So if i have a X70, will it give me a peace of mind?<br />
It is small for sure, and the Fuji quality is no question but will it be able to capture the milky way like the A7S did?<br />
<br />
There are a few things that put me off from buying the X70.<br />
First is money baahahah...<br />
Will i go crazy and spend my life savings on a camera that i will use for a one week trip?<br />
Will i fully utilise it then? or maybe it will stay in the bag?<br />
Will i bring it everywhere? im sure i must!<br />
I would love the X70 if someone can show me if it can take portraits with decent bokeh...<br />
ive been looking online...its tough! i know i know....<br />
it is wide angle and a bit slow lens at f2.8, not a popular choice for portraiture work but hey...as long it didnt distort way too much and at least decent bokeh, i dont mind...<br />
i know Fuji is good at low light but im already used to the Sony A7S low light quality, will i be disappointed?<br />
My heart says wait for the new iteration, X70S or X80 but my trip is this Saturday.<br />
Have i told u that the X70 is a discontinued product? Not that it turned into a bad camera, its just i happen to like the latest and the greatest...<br />
if i wait for the X80, it will have a new sensor and the ACROS mode but do i need them?<br />
Do i need bokeh? I do love them but do i need them for all my photos?<br />
Sure its good to have bokeh if it can but is it a deal breaker for me?<br />
If i did buy the X70, why do i keep thinking that i will still bring the Sony A7S? whats the point then?<br />
Hmmmm, decision is tough unless im super fucking rich.<br />
And then theres the question whether to get silver or black...<br />
Oh money why dont u grow on trees?<br />
<br />

Hashtag Sony a7s is quick!! Just a quick note, the Sony A7S is quite quick/fast! To those who worries about AF performance, for travel/street i think it is quite capable.<br />
<br />
One tip i've read about photography is to capture the moments....especially candid moments! Ones that can never be replicated back! Because those moments will never be back and if you able to capture those precious moments, it's like winning the jackpot, you know what i mean! and it also make a great photo.<br />
<br />

<br />
I was walking and pushing the baby stroller in hand when i saw my subject approach towards me, i was quite impressed with my Sony A7S for able to focus quickly and capture the photo. Its not a super sharp photo as i was walking while taking the picture, didn't have time to stand still, also i want to be stealthy as well, its a combination of tricks and skills bahahaha.... anyway, what i like about this photo is i was able to capture that lady's face pure smirk of awesomeness, <strike>a<i>nd that guy creeping up that cleavage and that kid's craving for milk "I want milk now", kid said bahahahaha</i></strike><br />
<strike><i><br /></i></strike>
Anyway my subject was a 7-11 sign board. πππAnonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00732912206547624060noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8728714294207563538.post-78748031761438312852017-07-10T22:09:00.002-07:002017-07-10T22:18:41.080-07:00Photography tips 101: Exposure (Basics of Photography)Hello welcome to my tips 101, today i'm gonna talk about exposure, the basic of photography, when you take a photograph basically the old skool way says you are taking an exposure.... (<i>bahaha i read that somewhere or i just created it).....</i><br />
Anyway, this is more of a guide to newbies than photography tips actually, but tips and guides are similar i guess....<br />
<br />
So the basics of photography is exposure. What is exposure? in photography terms exposure is the combination of 3 things.<br />
<br />
a) Shutter<br />
b) Aperture<br />
c) ISO<br />
<br />
With these 3 you basically create an exposure,which means you are taking a photo. Whether you use your iphones to take a picture, a compact point and shoot or a frikkin DSLR or even a film camera, these 3 things are always in play.<br />
<br />
Exposure is also the gathering of light. These 3 things are used to how much light is gathered...How much light reach the sensor of your camera or film back in the day. These light gathering will affect the brightness and quality of your photos. Do i make it sound complicated? Well just get this:-<br />
<b><br /></b>
<b><i>Exposure = Shutter, Aperture and ISO.</i></b><br />
<br />
Each settings will affect the brightness or dim of your photos. I explain more below.<br />
<br />
So lets explore each... im not gonna go in depth. just a basic in my own words/understanding.<br />
<br />
<b>Lets start with Shutter.</b><br />
<br />
a) Shutter = speed = is how many seconds it takes to create an exposure. You will always encounter the terms faster shutter speed (eg. 1/1000s) and slower shutter speed (eg. 10 seconds or 10").<br />
<br />
One of the reasons to use a Faster shutter speed is to freeze motion. You want to take a SHARP photo of a skateboarder jump mid air?? Use faster shutter speed.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJoILt8tnglvMxrnZkOBwtOyGSJFyty8Tp709n6dEmL4FdZ3yz_Guu4SfTZoJJ0GnbHpFgcMx_8xYotkX1dpuZ7WyiWEJ3RRk6lpUXUIoAd6WZeEbM5WEOgiTmU41wvRJE88YbWaJr71I/s1600/DSCF1061.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="683" data-original-width="1024" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJoILt8tnglvMxrnZkOBwtOyGSJFyty8Tp709n6dEmL4FdZ3yz_Guu4SfTZoJJ0GnbHpFgcMx_8xYotkX1dpuZ7WyiWEJ3RRk6lpUXUIoAd6WZeEbM5WEOgiTmU41wvRJE88YbWaJr71I/s1600/DSCF1061.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is at 1/640s shutter speed</div>
<br />
But using a fast shutter speed also means less light reaching your camera sensor which can results in dim photos. BUT BUT BUT you can play around with aperture and ISO settings to bring back the light which means to brighten back your photo. which i come back to that later.*<br />
<br />
One of the reasons to use a Slower shutter speed is to create motion blur. Why motion blur? Sometimes you wanted to show that the subject is moving rather than static. It also look better with motion blur than a static subject but that is based on your subject or preferences . Subject such as water flow, a cyclist.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is shot at 1/4s. This is not a good photo but its the only one i have in collection. but just an example to create a sense of motion</div>
<br />
Using slower shutter speed also lets you gather more light which is the technique to shoot night photography or astrophotography. Slower shutter speed also = long exposure. When you heard the term longer exposure it just meant they use slower shutter speed.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdd6wdHb4URXf90aDoD0KotVzwA2wtLYGhhtP92YGTBcHmWjEcaCgwmRDRz8NefVLW3V2jfcxTTdZLJous_LgT_UO35xMwxsPLZyIJdgmw3I6oB7Q5xge6c5ypRMX5ZdVa_PkHqRLJ8Ag/s1600/DSC07432-Edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="684" data-original-width="1024" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgdd6wdHb4URXf90aDoD0KotVzwA2wtLYGhhtP92YGTBcHmWjEcaCgwmRDRz8NefVLW3V2jfcxTTdZLJous_LgT_UO35xMwxsPLZyIJdgmw3I6oB7Q5xge6c5ypRMX5ZdVa_PkHqRLJ8Ag/s1600/DSC07432-Edit.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is a 15 second shutter speed. A tripod is much needed.</div>
<br />
So slow shutter speed is better right? More light gathered?? BUT BUT BUT you will encounter camera shake problem. Camera shake means your photos will come out blur, not sharp. Anything slower than 1/60 second can cause camera shake... when i say slower it means eg. 1/40, 1/15, 1/8 and so on.... unless you have sturdy hands and a good technique you can achieve SHARP picture with 1/30 but lets just stick with 1/60 is your limit. So a tripod is needed for sturdy non shake camera. But there is also image stabilization but lets not get ahead of ourselves. lets not get into that.<br />
<br />
On most cameras like Sony and Olympus, Shutter mode is represent with the letter S on the camera. On Canon i believe it is Tv. On Fuji, they shown the speed itself to indicate Shutter mode.<br />
<br />
<b>Next is Aperture</b><br />
<br />
b) Aperture is how wide or narrow the opening or hole on the camera lens to gather light. The term is usually f-stops. Aperture is a always a lens feature, nothing to do with camera body. So when they say Aperture it means your lens.<br />
<br />
So a wide opening/hole means more and better light gathering. Wide Aperture. A lens with the ability to open wide is called a FAST LENS. Wide aperture means wide opening/hole. So aperture such as f1.2, f1.4, f1.8, f2 these are known as fast lens/wide aperture. Aperture such as f3.5, f5.6 these are known as SLOW lens, narrow opening/hole, narrow aperture.<br />
<br />
So when to use a wide aperture? When you need bokeh!<br />
<span style="background-color: white; color: #404040; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: 16px;">Bokeh is defined as βthe effect of a soft out-of-focus background that you get when shooting a subject, using a fast lens, at the widest aperture, such as f/2.8 or wider.β - </span>i got this definition from nikonusa.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6z3Ackl5GFBszvUqU_0r-9_fWt5eHnYXqv8QjKE7_pNvZmsc5Yn0aHZXh6fNIgQQlatL-kPYv7Mu7m2T9s8Mp0xBVd_6CwCyGZJL19lGxplbAThf5AkGlCOczSFAXhCO2I6zcS3NqthA/s1600/DSC05702.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="684" data-original-width="1024" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6z3Ackl5GFBszvUqU_0r-9_fWt5eHnYXqv8QjKE7_pNvZmsc5Yn0aHZXh6fNIgQQlatL-kPYv7Mu7m2T9s8Mp0xBVd_6CwCyGZJL19lGxplbAThf5AkGlCOczSFAXhCO2I6zcS3NqthA/s1600/DSC05702.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is shot with Sony's 55mm at f1.8. Check out the background and foreground bokeh. OOOoooohhh Yummeh!</div>
<br />
So the most common fast lens of any camera brand is f1.8. With Fuji it is f2.<br />
<br />
Fast lens is also used when you shoot low light such as indoors, or maybe at night. Because fast lens gathers more light. With a fast lens, you can use a faster shutter speed and a lower ISO value. Why fast shutter speed? Because you dont want blurred photos, why lower ISO? Because you want the least noise in your photo which i come back to that later.**<br />
<br />
So when to use NARROW aperture? Narrow aperture such as f8, f11, f16 are usually used when shooting landscapes or a group photo where you want the whole picture to be sharp. When i say the whole photo it means the foreground and background is sharp. But distance between subject also takes into consideration but thats for another story.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8G2GDepecxQigbBEXHk86-J7YoMret7dZ40Uxxweo-8pXfKnLQPnwDHzRJO89OoPimwk_M9ZSQMxh4ravwvj9po_fCj3tmclf0yyMLrr4iT4ZPImvp4TOKfAHwXfJZyptwFIo6vK8_Bg/s1600/DSC05255.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="683" data-original-width="1024" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8G2GDepecxQigbBEXHk86-J7YoMret7dZ40Uxxweo-8pXfKnLQPnwDHzRJO89OoPimwk_M9ZSQMxh4ravwvj9po_fCj3tmclf0yyMLrr4iT4ZPImvp4TOKfAHwXfJZyptwFIo6vK8_Bg/s1600/DSC05255.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is taken at f9.5. basically overall picture is sharp.</div>
<br />
So this is good right? BUT BUT BUT with a narrow aperture, less light is gathered which means it can lead to the camera using a slower shutter and a higher ISO!! These are especially true if shooting in low light (eg. indoors and night time). In broad daylight no problems! Plenty of light!<br />
<br />
Slower shutter = camera shake = blur.<br />
High ISO = noise.<br />
<br />
On most camera, the Aperture mode is the letter A. on Canon i believe it is Av. On Fuji, they shown the aperture value on the lens itself.<br />
<br />
<b>Next is ISO</b><br />
<br />
c) Basically with ISO, this guy will affect how bright or dim your photos. BUT BUT BUT the thing with ISO is, the higher value they are the noisier your photos will be. When i say NOISIER, its the grain in your pictures. With digital cameras the noise/grain is ugly. it also smudges your picture, less details.<br />
So the best image quality is to use lowest ISO value possible. On most camera it is ISO100. on Fuji it is ISO200. With high ISOs such as ISO3200, ISO6400, your picture will definitely show noise/grain and also less details. But with nowadays modern digital cameras, ISO3200 up to ISO6400 is acceptable. The noise is what they say similar to Film grain. So its up to you whether you like the grain or not. but for me, yes, ISO6400 is acceptable. For instagram or web, ISO6400 is more than acceptable.<br />
<br />
So low ISO is the best right? Definitely!!! when you have plenty of light, BUT BUT BUT when the light start to goes dim, when you're indoors or nightfalls, your camera will struggle to keep its low ISO value, while it can, it will start to use slower shutter speed and its widest aperture. With slower shutter speed = camera shake = blur. If you happen to have a slow lens which is basically what comes with your camera (kit lens), less light will be gathered, so that means higher ISOs and slower shutter speed to gather more light to get the optimum exposure.<br />
<br />
So when to use HIGH ISO? when you're indoors or low light, and you need a fast shutter speed (at least to avoid shake). thats about 1/60s<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKtpUqR1lbNGccyPrREZfq7o_81a8zduGS_fvtxwrCNFHGqapgEcnP7MN-37dzX_KschEPOCAyg0W2jYOPnpDiI3e2CRjBFH6jn8AgsvYmwqLNxEOQKoyrW9JZ1cC-XRY88I7nU9_Fdg4/s1600/DSC07384.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="684" data-original-width="1024" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKtpUqR1lbNGccyPrREZfq7o_81a8zduGS_fvtxwrCNFHGqapgEcnP7MN-37dzX_KschEPOCAyg0W2jYOPnpDiI3e2CRjBFH6jn8AgsvYmwqLNxEOQKoyrW9JZ1cC-XRY88I7nU9_Fdg4/s1600/DSC07384.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is ISO25600. This is extreme high ISO. Your photos will look like <strike>shit!</strike> noisy/grainy. But i shot this handheld and the milkyway is visible! HANDHELD!!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJ9SIPe8XUHqEhIPY4MVqb_XarrvBPwkoa8YVLGdvJoaKoFcAnIm9dCxs9VU_l-h8v0hrJHbkdthpzY01GS0NJ_Tu6qqn0poA0AhPKguIcLegqMghc9Qoev2x8613UMpGShV5o-LcTxWY/s1600/DSCF7377.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="683" data-original-width="1024" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJ9SIPe8XUHqEhIPY4MVqb_XarrvBPwkoa8YVLGdvJoaKoFcAnIm9dCxs9VU_l-h8v0hrJHbkdthpzY01GS0NJ_Tu6qqn0poA0AhPKguIcLegqMghc9Qoev2x8613UMpGShV5o-LcTxWY/s1600/DSCF7377.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is at ISO6400. When light goes dim and you need to shoot handheld. Shutter speed here is 1/30. Aperture wide open at f2. See ISO6400 is acceptable.</div>
<br />
On Fuji cameras, ISO is a dial and on most cameras they are in the menu or at one of the camera dials.<br />
<br />
i hope i have covered the 3 aspects of exposure wisely. haha<br />
<br />
So if you have read all the way up to this, basically EXPOSURE has got to do with the amount of light. if you're shooting in broad daylight with plenty of light, this is the best image quality out of a camera you can get. with lowest ISO, the picture will come out squeaky clean. no noise no grains.<br />
<br />
When the light starts to get DIM, this is when your pictures will start to get noisy/more grain.<br />
<br />
So lemme conclude the 3 aspects of EXPOSURE which are the SHUTTER, APERTURE and ISO.<br />
So basically these 3 affects each other when taking a photo.<br />
<br />
*When you want to use a fast shutter speed and the overall photos are dim, you can adjust your aperture to its widest setting such as f1.8 and use a higher ISOs such a ISO1600 and above to gather more light to bring back the brightness.<br />
<br />
** Low ISO = less noise, less grain, more details, no smudging.<br />
High ISO = more noise, more grain, less details, smudging.<br />
<br />
Here's a tip or guide on exposure:-<br />
<br />
IN Broad daylight,<br />
<br />
when shooting landscapes, travel or street, when you want sharp pictures all over, use a narrow aperture such as f8, a fast shutter speed such as 1/60 onwards eg 1/100, 1/200 to freeze motion and the lowest ISO such as ISO100 to get squeaky clean image.<br />
<br />
Note:-<br />
Fast shutter speed = freeze motion = no motion blur = less light<br />
Slow shutter speed = motion blur = camera shake = tripod = night photography = astrophotography = more light<br />
low iso = less noise<br />
high iso = more noise<br />
wide aperture = fast lens = bokeh = more light = can use fast shutter and lower iso<br />
narrow aperture = landscapes = sharper foreground and background = less light<br />
<br />
<br />
all photos by me. Hope you enjoy this post and learn something from it. If else (fail)<br />

<br />
So yeah, reading them magazines there's a tip that i always stumble upon, when shooting people, try not to shoot <span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "open sans" , sans-serif; font-size: 16px;">that have lampposts, trees or flagpoles sticking out of the top people's heads. </span><span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Once you noticed em its kind of distracting and for me it kinda ruined the shot. Believe me even the pros are fell into this habit. Let me screenshot what i got from Techradar since they said it nicely. </span></span><br />
<span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></span>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-size: 16px;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">taken from/credits to <a href="http://www.techradar.com/how-to/photography-video-capture/cameras/10-portrait-photography-mistakes-every-photographer-makes-and-how-to-fix-them-1321034/2" target="_blank">Techradar</a></span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
That is a good tip. Believe me it is distracting when you have a subject with something sticking out of their head. Just take a look that pic above. Sheeeessshhh.....</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
So when i shoot i try to keep in mind and use this tip but sometimes i do still have photos of people with something sticking out of their head. grrrr....i guess i aint paying attention to details. <i>But i have reasons/excuses, hahaha, im handholding a baby on one hand and the camera on the other and i wanted to be quick. but nevertheless still came back with this ruined shot hahaha. so the lesssons we can get from here is you can use Sony A7S one handed with the 35mm 2.8 lens. ππ</i></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
here's mine, just recently....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUq4gjd5kfEY580YV5tgeISdtUWInN1UUWRN5hJT2D73XnEDMUtUUHuoF51EJi4brZJPHR9sLdp7VJI8GPC71VT4LCVfm9fPJHtNW_RQuW1TgC6apb-34EMpczQrsXhwjyfPOVbv3-b78/s1600/DSC06850.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="684" data-original-width="1024" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUq4gjd5kfEY580YV5tgeISdtUWInN1UUWRN5hJT2D73XnEDMUtUUHuoF51EJi4brZJPHR9sLdp7VJI8GPC71VT4LCVfm9fPJHtNW_RQuW1TgC6apb-34EMpczQrsXhwjyfPOVbv3-b78/s1600/DSC06850.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
To the untrained eyes, it looks fine but after you read this tip, its a fu***n distracting! If only i moved a bit to the right or left. its worst when its at the center, narrow straight line sticking out of the head.<br />
<i>(Hello, i have a lamppost out of my head)</i><br />
<i>(Hi, I'm a lamppost stand)</i><br />
<i>(Hi, i'm a ............... </i>OK OK WE GET IT!!!)</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
But yes thats your tip of the day!!</div>

Trying out a black and white landscape ala Ansel Adams, i always like his work, from what i gather he did a lot of dodge and burn, im not sure if that is true or false but whatever it is, im just too lazy to dodge and burn. Taken with Sony A7S. i think i like my Sony more now.<br />

Testing out manually panorama stitching with photoshop. not really manual. auto stitch intelligently by photoshop. photoshop is a genius! no banding. this is before i realised that my Sony A7S has a panorama feature built in...duh! *facepalm!*<br />

Been reading a lot of reviews on the net and youtube.<br />
When there's a negative review i would just brush it aside and say "He's probably a noob"<br />
I read what i want to read, i listen what i wanted to listen, i see what i wanted to see.<br />
If you tell me otherwise i would shut it.<br />
That is GAS my friends. I have uncontrollable GAS.<br />
When it was launched i could not care less about it.<br />
Saw it on the store shelf before, i just walked pass it.<br />
But somehow now, as of today, i really want one.<br />
Oh the PEN F. Why would i go back to smaller sensor?<br />
I convinced myself that i needed a smaller camera and smaller lenses.<br />
Olympus Image Quality is decent for what i do mostly.<br />
I never printed large. I'd imagine i would do someday but that day never comes.<br />
I did print once but it was only 3R and 8x10.<br />
Shyeah, Olympus can manage that. Just as long as i dont shoot at ISO6400.<br />
But for the price of the PEN F, i can also get a Fuji X100F,<br />
which i drooled over last time but now not anymore.<br />
Hmmm....<br />
If only i have money coming out of the tap.<br />
TO be honest, my A6000 is considered compact but NO, i still want Oly.<br />
So what now?<br />
Im thinking what else is there i need to sell to fund my Oly GAS.<br />
Posted my Guitar on sale but nobody seems to be interested.<br />
Cos they dont know about brands... all they do is low balling and buy stuffs from China.<br />
F U, im selling a USA made Gibson SG.<br />
Come on show me the money!<br />
I want to buy the PEN F please.<br />
If only Lensrental ships worldwide.<br />
Or a rental store is available from where i come from.<br />
Sigh....<br />
You know the drill.<br />
Once i got the Oly, then i want a Fuji and then i would want a Sony...<br />
it keeps coming back, rolling over and over.<br />
If only i do this for money.<br />
that would be ok right?<br />
wWhy cant i be happy with my own camera?<br />
I used to be happy with a Fuji.<br />
But there are other ways to like a different brand and find fault with what i have.<br />
Anyway,<br />
I probably own the PEN F when i updated this blog next time.<br />
:D<br />
Remember when i say i dont like the silver PEN F? Well thats the color i want now!<br />

Another Day Another GAS!So here i am reading countless camera reviews...<br />
And lately i am reading about Olympus.<br />
I dunno why i m attracted with Micro Four Thirds format again.<br />
Im sure the camera aesthetics played a very big part as i love retro camera designs.<br />
I remember i told myself never again. Its not that it sucks. it just that id prefer Fuji images.<br />
Well its physics. Small sensor vs bigger sensor.<br />
I'm looking for a smaller package.<br />
My Sony A7S is not really that large except for its lenses.<br />
Its no larger than say a Fuji X-T2 or Oly EM1.<br />
But maybe its not retro enough.<br />
I dunno why im not looking into Fuji X100F anymore. Well thats GAS for you.<br />
One second Fuji, the next Olympus.<br />
I was really interested with the OMD EM10ii as i found cheaper deals on ebay.<br />
I was a bit surprised that it has gotten so cheap, maybe it wasnt that new anymore.<br />
Maybe July they'll announced a version 3 with the newer sensor.<br />
Thats why the ver 2 is cheap nowadays.<br />
I wasnt really interested with Olympus PEN F. Especially the silver, the silver is not nice in my eyes.<br />
But last night i started to read reviews about the PEN F.<br />
I convinced myself it will have better HIGH ISOs but i knew in my heart my Sony is better.<br />
Why HIGH ISOs? Because i like to take pictures of my kids indoors where light is dimmer.<br />
But just 2 days ago i read reviews of OMD EM1.<br />
I need rehab. my GAS is uncontrollable.<br />
I thought i can buy all cameras with my hard earned cash.<br />
But lets be honest, i will be broke if i keep on going like this.<br />
But what do you think of the Olympus PEN F?<br />
......<br />

There are mostly positives and that leads to GAS or at least helps building up GAS. I have GAS. I'm sick of my GAS problems. Because im not bloody rich, if i was id buy all the cameras i can think of.<br />
<br />
At the moment i am GASing for Olympus. What gives? Why would i downgrade from a Full Frame sensor to a micro four thirds? Like i always said, i am more into aesthetic.... Olympus and Fuji looks like old skool camera, Sony meh... they look like boxes bahahaha but i love the IQ i get from Sony. And i was never happy with my Olympus EM10 before, so i dunno why i would like to get my hands on the Em10ii. It just look so good. like old Film Olympus camera. Maybe thats why. and somehow it is cheaper! than the predecessor. i bought my EM10 at about $1200SGD, now its only $600-700 Singapore dollars.<br />
<br />
If only there is a rental for camera here, at least i can let off my GAS. If i want it id buy it but sadly here i have to buy it to test it.... GAS wins everytime....<br />
<br />
Sorry for the random rant.<br />
<br />
Ciao.<br />

<br />
So last Sunday i went with a friend who's also a photographer so lucky me he wont be bored to death! Our mission is to capture Milky Way or at least locate it. The night skies were quite clear when we grabbed our coffee but it was kinda cloudy when we reached our location. Patches of clouds which kinda ruined some photos....but oh well.... this is my first time at capturing Milky Way, but it was fun, in the dark, trying to find the darkest place away from the light pollution... i think we found a place but there are still light pollutions from the oil rigs and ports. We are at a beach. Kinda.<br />
<br />
I've downloaded an app called Sky Guide for IOS, it $2.99 i think its worth the price, just face your iphone into the sky and it will show you where the milky way is..... technology nowadays....fascinating!!! i dont have to put a stick into the ground and look at the stars anymore...but i think thats for direction kinda compass thing?? oh well whatevs....<br />
<br />
I also wanted to test the capabilities of my Sony A7S, and i started to appreciate its size...i think i sunk in to the thought that its not any bigger than a Fujifilm i might say.... but the 24-70 f4 is still kinda huge....it got front heavy as i fitted it to the camera body, the camera moves from its locked position on the tripod.... but i needed the wide angle FOV and that lens covers.... slight heavy vignetting though surprisingly...<br />
<br />
The live view of the SOny A7S also went bonkers...i dunno why, maybe its a bug or maybe i mess up with some settings it just didnt work that night.....dang!! i had to guess the focus old skool style and bunch of trial and errors.... my friend with an olympus em10 can easily auto focus with a touch of the LCD. AUTO FOCUS!! yes...damn!! AUTO FOCUS the frikking night sky!! WTF!<br />
<br />
So anyway my Live View didnt work when i wanted to but when i showed off the other night it works impeccably! Maybe next time no showing off....<br />
<br />
Anyway, we're off at about 11pm, grabbed our lattes and mochas at Coffee Bean and reached our first destination at almost midnight. the skies were clear but some patch of clouds visible. Its not the darkest of places as well as the restaurant opposite road has blaring spotlight least to say.... So we went to the second destination wher emost of my photos are taken....its quite dark and scary if alone... but thats what you do for photography right???<br />
<br />
I set my IQ to RAW+JPEGS....face my iphone to the skies, fitted the 24mm and shoot away.... my shutter, ISO varies...aperture at its widest in this case at f4.... and thank god for RAW....i was able to process and slightly able to see the milkyway despite covered in patches of clouds.....<br />
<br />

Light pollution can be seen on the clouds</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

During shooting i also have a problem with condensation on the lens... its from the airconditioning of my car....so it took a while for it to normalize? with room temperature.....</div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
Battery wise for a shoot that took about an hour plus is quite ok....i think i still have about 40% juice...but i have spares! So make sure to have spare batteries....</div>
